The background of Shahrokh Company can show its status in the textile industry in Iran. Shahrokh Company was established in 1991 in Kashan, Iran. Its activities are in two main categories: weaving machine-made drugs and finishing them. Since it was founded, Shahrokh Company has developed two machinery finishing lines, which are among the most equipped finishing companies in Iran and takes finishing orders from other machine-made rug companies. It has machines for weaving fringes, winding and dyeing yarns at the present. The quality and quantity of the rug weaving machines of Shahrokh Company have developed, too. While it had only one machine in 350 reeds about 30 years ago it is using up the whole capacity of its 8 machines in 1200 and 1700 reeds per meter now. The entire company is located in three different places. About 101,000 square meters of its properties are located in Amir Kabir Industrial Estate, 9,000 square meters in Ravand Industrial Estate and the remaining 30,000 square meters on Ravand Road. Currently, 850 people are employed in Shahrokh Company and are paid monthly salaries. In addition, it is estimated that Shahrokh Company has created jobs indirectly for around 500 other people including mechanics, electricians, designers and engineers who are doing some outsourcing projects for this company. Shahrokh Company has attended several exhibitions around the world including DOMOTEX Exhibition in Germany, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates. It has two showrooms in Kashan now and plans to develop some showrooms in other cities around Iran in the future.

Shahrokh Company enjoys a large team of over 25 skillful designers. The design department of Shahrokh Company consists of two sections. One is assigned to create new rug designs and devise innovative color palettes according to market research, while the second one is in charge of editing previously made designs and adjusting their dimensions according to customers’ desirable sizes. To customize rug designs, Shahrokh Company does not transform a design to readily convert it into larger or smaller sizes. Our designers take time to recreate details of motifs and patterns in the corresponding scale of customers’ requested dimensions. In other words, they try to preserve the harmony of elements of patterns and make their sizes match with the overall size of a rug.
The quantity and technical features of machinery play an essential role in the placement of a company in the machine-woven market in Iran, Shahrokh Company utilizes eight carpet weaving machines for preparation of bulk orders. Six of them produce rugs in 1200 reeds per meter, and two others produce ones in 1700 reeds per meter. Its 1200-reed machines are in 3, 4, and 5 meters wide. This 5m-wide machine has given an advantage to Shahrokh company. While most Iranian carpet producers have to split large rugs whose width is over four meters in two and then stitch the two halves, Shahrokh Company can weave rugs in up to five meters wide without any seams. The problem is that if a large rug is produced by stitching two halves, these stitches mark will be recognizable and therefore they will ruin the appearance of the rug. Shahrokh Company is proud to be among the few producers of seamless 5m-wide carpets. This is especially important and really useful for customers from Arab countries such as the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain, who are usually interested in large area rugs. Although the purchase of this 5m-wide machine was more costly than typical 3m-wide and 4m-wide machines, Shahrokh Company owners believed that this venture was worth it because it could enhance the quality and accelerate the pace of the production. By this machine, designers do not have to take time to recreate rug design halves and workers will not have to take hours to put thousands of stitches to join those halves.
Moreover, Shahrokh Company is the owner of the first 1700-reed rug weaving machines in the world. The existence of this cutting-edge technology that enables the production of the densest and most finely machine-woven rugs has been doubtfully denied by the competitors of Shahrokh Company. They were right not to believe this state-of-the-art machine because even Vandewiele Company as the leading manufacturer of textile machinery in Belgium, had not gone beyond machines in 1500 reeds per meter. The engineers of Shahrokh Company struggled with endless challenges to elevate the density of reeds in this machine to 1700 reeds per meter. Now after several years of trial and error Shahrokh Company is privileged to be the first manufacturer of unparalleled hand-look silk rugs in 1700 reeds per meter. These rugs which are woven by machinery but finished by hand look so delicate and fine that one can hardly distinguish them from hand-knotted silk rugs. The advantage of this machine is highlighted in the production of tapestries, where there are thousands of delicate and tiny details that are feasible only by 1700-reed machinery of Shahrokh Company. However, this success was achieved only at the cost of decreasing the efficiency of the machines to approximately 160 square meters per day, which is not high enough in mass production. Therefore, Shahrokh Company doubled the number of its 1700-reed machines to decrease the production lead time of bulk orders for these valuable luxurious rugs.
